What made you choose this outfit?
As we met online, I was super nervous leading up to the date. Luckily we planned a really low-key pub date, so I made an effort with my makeup but then everything else was quite casual! Looking back, I think going with my gut instinct and committing to a more laid-back outfit was perfect and matched my personality.

Did you see each other again?
We've been together almost two years, which is crazy.

We met on a night out in Brixton and I remembered neither of us were super fancy dressers, so that made my date night decision easier.

First we went to a bar for drinks, then to Dogstar (both in Brixton).

What made you choose this outfit?
The date wasn't in a posh location – as mentioned, I’m not a very glamorous kind of person anyway – so I wanted to be myself. I decided to dress a bit more casual with a pair of balloon-shaped jeans, a cute cropped top, showing just a bit of skin but not being too intrusive, and Doc Martens boots.

A pub in Finsbury park. It was a really nice, sunny summer's day so I took full advantage.

What made you choose this outfit?
I'm such an over-thinker and asked three different friends before settling on a cute, loose dress. After a recent shopping splurge, I ended up popping on a new polka dot dress, One Star Converse, a delightful Susan Alexandra beaded bag and dark denim jacket in case it got a little chilly as the night progressed.

We did a few more times, but sadly he moved countries. Alas, our mini summer romance ended abruptly.

What made you choose this outfit?
I think I just wanted to be comfortable and feel like myself, also it was super casual so I didn’t want to overdress. I went with a black and white striped top, a black mini skirt, black tights and white high top Converse.

Yep, we’ve been together six years!

A pub near my house in east London, less than a 10 minute walk in fact.

What made you choose this outfit?
Well, reader. I was very short on time and only had two hours for this date because I was going out out afterwards. This rarely happens – both the dating and the going out – so it was only when I’d left the house wearing a very simple outfit of jeans and a nice top that I wondered whether I should have put in more effort.

Online, by accident. She was already planning a move to London (where I'm from) when we started talking, but I like to think I sped up the process. We never really dated in a traditional sense. The first time we met was at Billund airport before she moved from Denmark to the UK.

The airport and then the beach by her house I guess

Why did you choose this outfit?
Dressing for aeroplane comfort that will also accommodate the nerves of meeting someone for the first time AND make you look good is A LOT. I was really into dark colours, baggy maxi skirts and sheer tops at the time, none of which I wear now (it was 2013 and I was an English student). If I remember rightly I wore a similar combo to this, including a netted long-sleeve top through which you could see my bra. A bold move in retrospect. Equal parts comfy, dowdy and slutty (which also described me at the time).

I mean we're married now, so you could say it all worked out.

I always dress quite minimally and opt for very little colour. You just can’t go wrong with an LBD. I wore my fur coat on top 'cause it was pretty chilly that day and I'm a sucker for a bit of animal print, then paired it with Vans – cute but casual.

I knew there'd be beer sloshing around and it would be pretty cramped, so I wore a sheer, contrast top. I decided on some low-slung, nylon Dickies and then white Air Forces, a huge mistake as they ended up being destroyed but hey, they completed the look.

If I could live in tracksuit bottoms, I would. So it was a no-brainer that I would pop a pair on for such a low-key date. I wanted a hint of colour and went for a neon green bodysuit and trainers. I definitely could be seen from afar, let’s put it that way.

Yeah, we saw each other for a little while until it fizzled out.
