TS1020 Analogue Data Gathering Panels (DGPs) are used to expand the number of inputs and outputs (or relays) on the Challenger system. It brings brand new features to Challenger10 systems, and is backwards compatible with Challenger V8 systems.

The Challenger system uses end-of-line (EOL) resistors on input circuits to monitor the condition of alarm input devices. In a Challenger V8 system, only one value of EOL resistor could be used. When used on a Challenger10 panel, a TS1020 DGP can be used with a variety of EOL resistor values. This flexibility can greatly reduce the cost of upgrading an existing intrusion-detection system to a Challenger10 system. Also, the TS1020 DGP can measure and display (on an LCD keypad) the resistance values of its input circuits to assist in fault finding or commissioning a site.

Relay boards are connected to a ten-way plug on the Challenger, Access Controllers, or DGP's to expand relay capacity.

The TS0840 provides an additional 3 dry contact relays to the Challenger Panel & 4 relays to the Access Controllers, or a possible 8 on a TS0820 DGP.

When fitted to a Challenger Panel or Access Controller, the TS0840 cannot be combined with other relay boards.

The 8-input expansion module adds eight inputs to the Tecom range of Data Gathering Panels (DGPs). This provides an inexpensive way to increase the capacity for detection sensors and other inputs on the system.

Up to three 8-input expander boards can be added to a standard DGP (product codes TS0820, TS0824 and TS1020, all of which have 8 inputs as a standard) which increases the total capacity to 32 inputs.

Using more than one 8-input expansion module on a Challenger v8 system to expand a DGP beyond 16 inputs (via TS0820 DGP or TS1020 DGP) will reduce the total number of DGPs available on the Challenger v8 system. This reduction in capacity will not occur when using a Challenger10 panel.
