Contouring and highlighting has become an everyday makeup essential. While a great contour enhances your natural face shape, highlighting makes it more luminous and glowy, both a necessary step to making your makeup look more youthful and flawless. For a more subtle contour I like to skip bronzer and use a taupe colored powder. For blush, I love using a rose o berry shade for a more natural looking flush. For this tutorial, I’ve already applied my foundation, concealer, powder, and eye makeup. How to Soft Contour and Highlight Products Used: Soft Angled Brush Contour Palette Blending Brush Powder Brush Angled Blush Brush Blush ‘Natural Beauty’ Tapered Blush Brush Highlighter ‘Soft and Gentle’ Lip Liner ‘Dervish’ Lipstick ‘Modesty’ How to Soft Contour and Highlight Instructions: Step 1 / Using an angled brush, begin by applying the soft contour shade from this palette directly under the cheekbones, from the ear to about 2″ from the edges of the lips. Step 2 / Next add the contour shade under the jawline, tracing downwards along the sides of the neck. I love to put the color here instead of along the jawline because this can easily transfer upwards creating a shadow on the chin. Step 3 / Next trace the color on the temples, across the top of the forehead along the hairline, blending the color gently downwards.  Step 4 / Using a blending brush, add the contour shade along the sides of the nose and under the tip. Be sure to keep the ridge of the nose clear of any of the contour color since keeping this area light is what helps slim the nose. Step 5 / Next trace the color down underneath the bottom lip. I make sure to keep this very light but feel it’s a necessary step to keeping the color even throughout the face. Step 6 / Use a powder brush to go back over the contour shade to blend it into the skin. It’s important not to skip this step so there aren’t any harsh lines and the color merely enhances the natural shadows of the face. Step 7 / Once the contour shade is applied and blended, dust your favorite blush shade onto the cheeks using an angled blush brush. I am applying this blush in ‘natural beauty’ to the apples of the cheeks blending upwards, toward the tops of the ears. Step 8 / Apply your favorite highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, blending outwards towards the hairline. I am using this highlighter and brush and am also applying a tiny bit under my brows, on the tip of my nose, along the cupids bow, on my chin and the center of my forehead. Step 9 / Lastly, apply your favorite lipstick, lip balm, or lip gloss to finish off the look. My favorites at the moment are this lip pencil in ‘Dervish’ and this lipstick in ‘Modesty.’ Shop the post: [show_shopthepost_widget id=”2335012″]
