Use a drop of a gentle dish soap diluted very heavily with plenty of water, and wipe it gently with a very wet paper towel or non-abrasive sponge. You'll notice that some excess ink is being removed. This initial wipe process just removes the excess and doesn't fade the design. Take advantage to run your hand on the cork part of the mat and get acquainted.
